One of the last letters coming from the Alamo contained the famous phrase, “God and Texas, Victory or Death.” Written in stone on the Monument to the Heroes of the Alamo in Austin, Texas, those words personify that individual freedom is worth living and dying for. Moreso, it signifies a written record that must be preserved.
In 2000 the Texian Christian Writers yoked together from around Texas to California to write the Christian History of Texas into curricula that Christian students and educators could read, enjoy, or use. Once they began to discover the Christian heritage of Texas, a whole new dimension of Texas HisStory emerged.
Jan Pierce sent blanket letters to Christian schools and organizations across Texas looking for writers of a similar calling. “Many are called, few are chosen,” as Jesus said. These are the ones who heard and obeyed the calling to write about God’s kingdom advancing in Texas.
